“Happy Earth Hour” by Eaton Hotel Hong Kong Turn Your Lights Off To Make The Future Brighter!

(Hong Kong, 23 March 2009) – In conjunction with providing the highest standard of quality, services and spirit, Eaton Hotel Hong Kong is also devoted to make the world a greener place by implementing a series of environmental-friendly practices. Recently, Eaton Hotel has taken further action to support “Green” movement by participating in the first ever “Earth Hour” Event to be taking place in Hong Kong on 28 March 2009, from 8:30pm – 9:30pm.

Eaton Hotel Hong Kong, as a “Green” Hotel, will support this meaningful event by switching off the lights of hotel’s lobby, Metro Lounge, Planter’s Bar, exterior billboards and lightings and the wall lamps of all guest floor corridors for the hour and using environmentally friendly chemical-free soy candles to light up the hotel.

To encourage our guests to participate in this meaningful event by leaving their room and switching off the lights, a special promotion - Happy “Earth” Hour – will be launched at the Garden Terrace of the Hotel. During the hour, organic wine will be served, and guests can enjoy the “Buy-one-get-one-free” offer as well as complimentary organic canapés.

“As an environmentally conscious corporation, sustainability is always one of our primary concerns. Participating in Earth Hour is a privilege and we commend WWF for this excellent initiative; Eaton Hotels will continue our journey towards benchmark sustainable performance encouraging our colleagues and guests along the way. Everything you do can make a difference, so why not do something positive for your planet, today,” John Dick, Managing Director of Eaton Hotel Hong Kong / Vice President of Eaton Hotels said.

Eaton Hotel has launched a series of “Green” actions internally to proactively support the “Green” movement, for example, the installation of the hotel’s kitchens, the launch of resource conservation programmes for all working levels, recycling paper / plastic / aluminum cans / glass container on guests floors as well as all outlet. In fact, the Hotel is the very first one to initiate the source separation programme at the back office which encourages staff to sort their rubbish before putting into the recycling box. All these practices are guaranteed to minimize the environmental damage and make this world a greener and better one.
